The second was held in Sarajevo (Bosnia-Herzegovina, 10-13 May, 2000), in cooperation with the Association of Balkan Statisticians (ABS), and with the support of the European Centre for Statistics and Development (CESD), the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), the Institut national d’études démographiques (INED) and the International Association of French-speaking Demographers (AIDELF). It brought together some 150 participants, including statisticians, demographers, academics from all countries directly concerned and from many others (Belgium, France, Italy, Norway, Switzerland, Turkey), as well as representatives of European and International bodies. The theme was "Changes in the 1990s and the demographic future of the Balkans. Measurement problems and analysis framework".
